Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
This Grenache is a bit lighter in weight and body compared to the initial offerings. It is ruby red in color with aromas of cherry, strawberry, dry sage, pipe tobacco, and fennel seed. The palate has velvety and mild tannins, ample acidity and a lingering minerality on its lengthy finish.
Winemaker's Notes
This is the 4th release of our Estate Grenache. The wine is a reflection of the extreme growing conditions and granitic soils of our high elevation (2740’) vineyard. It is comprised of 2 clones from different sources – John Alban’s famous A2 clone, and France’s ENTAV 513 clone. The granitic soils have a pronounced affect on the wine especially as it relates to its velvety texture. The wine utilizes native yeast and minimal handling during fermentation and élevage. It spends 18 months in French oak (14% new) and has been bottled unfined and unfiltered.
