The grapes were grown primarily at Rougemont vineyard in Keswick, VA on a hot southeastern facing slope on Davidson clay soil. Some of the grapes came from Carter’s Mountain, which is the highest point of elevation in Charlottesville and allows for great sunlight and rainwater run-off. The wine was aged in 60% new French oak for 19 months. There are notes of red and black fruit, smoke, spice, and tobacco.
