An Evening with Chris Boustred of Remhoogte (Tuesday, June 4, 2019)

If you've been following our wine program over the last several years, you've probably heard of our portfolio tastings. They are nearly famous* and have proven to be some of the most talked about wine events in the world*. We're excited to launch our 2019 series of tastings (albeit a bit late in the year) by hosting Chris Boustred of Remhoogte Wine Estate on Tuesday, June 4 at 7 pm.

Remhoogte Wine Estate is a small, family owned winery located in the foothills of the Simonsberg Mountains in Stellenbosch a stone's throw away from Cape Town. The property was purchased by Murray and Juliet Boustred in 1994. The couple restored the buildings on the property - some of which dated back to the original land deeds of 1812 - and planted new vineyards on steep south and southwest facing slopes. Focused primarly on noble red grapes like Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Shiraz, the family also produces world-class Pinotage and Chenin Blanc.

Remhoogte is a vineyard where all pruning, picking and sorting of grapes is done by hand. Half the grapes are sold to a nearby winery, whilst the remainder is used to make Remhoogte wines. Chris Boustred, son of Murray and Juliet, is the winemaker. He trained in vineyards around the world, including acclaimed regions of Australia, at the prestigious Chateau Fontenil in Bordeaux, and in the Napa Valley, California.

Chris will be joining us at The Wine Seller on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 to pour through the current releases from the winery. We'll be tasting through 11 of his wines while learning about the terroir and technique that is unique to South Africa. This is a not-to-be-missed event!

There are a limited number of tickets available. Call (757)564-4400 to reserve your spot! $35 per person includes tasting and light hors d'oeuvres.

*We are neither nearly famous nor do we host the most talked about wine events in the world... but we are pretty cool.
